October 30
31st Sunday in Ordinary Time
Matthew 23:1-12

For your reflection
Jesus tells the crowds: “The greatest among you will be your servant.” Serving one another is the way to God. You serve others in your role as a catechist, and you are in fact following Jesus as you plan lessons, teach, and pray with those you teach. You are the “greatest!”

With your class
Have children make small banners (with construction paper), listing one way each can serve others. Choices might be: being polite, playing fairly, cleaning my room, doing the dishes, helping my sister/brother with homework. Encourage originality and then process around the room with the banners while singing “This little light of mine.”
